EPIC 

Provides savings for over half the cost of most prescription drugs for the elderly.

FOOD STAMPS 

Allowances issued on a monthly basis that are used in place of cash to purchase food items at participating stores and supermarkets. With some exceptions, citizenship is required.

FOOD STAMPS FOR SSI 

Monthly allotment of coupons for low-income households who receive SSI to purchase food & meals in some restaurants. With some exceptions, citizenship is required.

HEAP 

Provides an annual grant to help low-income homeowners & renters pay fuel & utility costs.

IT-214  

Provides tax credit or cash payment of up to $375 to homeowners & renters for part of previous years rent or real property taxes.

LIFELINE 

Provides discounted basic telephone service for Verizon customers that are low income, elderly or disabled.

MED SAVINGS (QI-1) 

Program to assist low-income elderly where medicaid pays for the full medicare part b premium.

MED SAVINGS (QMB) 

Program to assist low-income elderly where medicaid pays for the medicare part b premium and medicare part a & b deductibles and co-insurance.

MED SAVINGS (SLIMB) 

Program to assist low-income elderly where medicaid pays for the medicare part b premium.

FAMILY HEALTH PLUS  

Program that pays medical bills for low-income persons under 65 years old (based on public assistance standard of need)

MEDICAID  

Pays medical bills for low-income persons aged 65 years & older, including services not covered by Medicare (dental care, home care, institutional care, prescription drugs, eye glasses, & hearing aids). With some exceptions, citizenship is required.

MEDICARE - PART D 

Medicare Part D is insurance for prescription drugs coverage provided by private companies (Medicare approved) for everyone who qualify for Medicare.

NYCTAX CREDIT  

Provides tax credit or cash payment of up to $125 for New York City school tax to residents of New York City for all or part of 2001.

SCHE 

Provides savings on real estate property taxes of up to 50% to qualified senior citizens (aged 65 years & older) property owners (1-3 family dwellings), including co-ops & condominiums.

SCRIE 

Provides a rent increase exemption to seniors (aged 62 & older) residing in rent-regulated (rent-controlled or rent-stabilized), Mitchell-Lama and hotel tenants.

SPECIAL PROTECTIONS 

A program that provides uninterrupted telephone service for Verizon customers that are low-income, disabled or with children households unable to pay their bills.

SSI 

Provides monthly supplemental payments for low-income aged individuals, families, & disabled in addition to social security and/or other income.

WEATHERIZATION 

Provides low-income seniors and disabled persons with free home energy-related services that can lower their heating and electric bills and increase the comfort of their homes. Services include: a home visit to assess needs, referrals to State-contracted
